What is The Leadership Academy?
The Leadership Academy helps driven leaders with untapped potential, learn the essential leadership skills to create and drive a high-performing team.
In 16 weeks, you will emerge confident in having tough conversations that actually work, know how to hold people accountable, and have the tools necessary to build and drive your own high-performing team of ‘A players’.
The Leadership Academy teaches for real-life practial change. We learn in ‘bite sized’ chunks so you can implement everything one step at a time. We are all busy, so the commitment is less than 90 minutes a week i.e. no time off needed from your day job. You will learn practical skills , watch real life situations of what good leadership conversations look like and complete practical exercises to ensure everything you learn is implemented into your day-to-day life. Every 2 weeks you will have a group coaching session with me (Glenda), to cement and challenge learnings, and to assist with any real-life challenges or roadblocks.

I help driven leaders learn the essential skills to create and drive a high-performing team, and … have more fun in the process!
I am a business executive with over 15 years experience in roles such as CFO, COO and CEO in New Zealand and overseas. Although I love driving business and being an executive, I have realized my real passion is helping leaders be the best they can be. Plus my executive roles have taught me behind every business or financial problem there is normally a people problem!
Early on in my career I started focusing on growing my leaders and the impact was huge. However, I realised there was a big gap in the way leadership was taught and what we expected people to do back in their jobs. We sent leaders on 3 days courses hoping that when they returned to their desk they were magically different people. However, the reality was that less than 10% of what was taught was actually implemented. Why? Because leaders need practical tools to set them up for success not theory, and they need support as they change their leadership. Hence The Leadership Academy was born.
My training and communication style is fun and energetic. I make a point of communicating things in a practical and down to earth way - after all if you don’t understand what you need to do and how to do it, the training has failed. I use research and science backed approaches, and help you implement the learnings into your life through the exercises and fortnightly coaching sessions. When I first started teaching leadership people would often ask me to role play the conversations so they could see and hear what good conversations looked like. As such when I created The Leadership Academy I filmed over 20 real leadership conversations - so you can actually see what it looks like to hold someone accountable, have a tough conversation or have a 1-on-1. The Leadership Academy is a complete wrap around approach to foundational leadership, with heavy emphasis on practical implementation.
Personally I am a life long learner, consuming about 40-50 books a year (follow me on LinkedIn to see what im reading). I am a technically trained CA and CPA in New Zealand and Canada, a graduate of Harvard Business School, trained in Conversant Communication, as well as having a formal qualification as a CTI coach.
When I am not busy being a CFO and running The Leadership Academy – you will find me spending time with my husband and two young sons, cycling and eating great food!

The Leadership Academy is run in cohort groups so you get the benefit of learning and developing together and coaching can be more targeted. As such you must start at the start at the beginning of each cohort. So the conversations in our online course are separate and can be watched over and over to assist you in having these conversations yourself.
